Security advice - prevent burglaries and break-ins ...

  • Make sure you fit strong locks to all doors and windows
  • If you're fitting new doors and windows, make sure they comply with British Standard BS7950 (windows) or PAS 24-1 (doors)
  • Always activate your alarm - even if you're only going out for a few minutes
  • Make sure your shed, garage or outbuildings are secure if they contain expensive tools and equipment
  • If you have an alarm system, make sure it's in good working order by having it regularly maintained
  • Old bell boxes can give the impression your alarm system doesn't work - consider having them replaced
  • Most thieves look for an unlit area to gain access to your home or businesss premises. Consider extra exterior lighting or security lighting.
